Course Structure

The Engineering Math Online courses are designed to accommodate the scheduling demands of industry. Each course is divided into a series of lessons that focus on specific concepts. There are no mandatory meeting times or lectures associated with these courses.

Students are expected to read through the initial tutorials and explanations for the concepts used in the lesson. Then, students apply the information from these tutorials to complete a homework assignment.

Engineering Math courses are semester based. Students are expected to start their course at the beginning of either the Fall, Spring or Summer semester and complete the final exam by the end of finals week for that semester.

Student-Instructor Contact

Even though the courses do not have a regularly scheduled meeting time, we are committed to making help and guidance on the material available at the student's convenience.

Each student is assigned a mentor, who acts as an assistant to the course's instructor. These mentors are available to answer questions via e-mail and generally have a response time of less than 24 hours.

Additionally, we arrange office hours during normal business hours and for a few hours during the evening. During these, a mentor is available online and by phone to provide real-time for a student. A schedule may be found here.

Technical issues should be sent via e-mail to tech@cm.math.uiuc.edu and will be resolved by our technical assistants.
